Can the Flex Belt Deliver Workout Free Abs?

The Flex Belt is one of the latest entries in the already crowded abdominal system market, hoping to capture a share of the multi billion dollar home exercise market. This one is a bit different than most of the others in that it doesn't require you to do a single movement to carve up your ab region. It actually works on its own.

But does it actually work? Let's get into our Flex Belt review...

The Specs

The Flex Belt is an ab toning system in the form of a belt that uses Electrical Muscle Stimulation (EMS) to firm, strengthen, and tone your abdominal muscles. This is the same technology that has been used in physical therapy andfor other medical purposes for over 30 years. Here, you are instructed to strap the Flex Belt around your midsection and secure it with the Velcro straps. You plug in the battery/remote on the side and flip the switch... it's that easy.

Well, almost. You will need Gel Pads, which are medical-grade pads that stick to your skin and help the belt work your muscles more effectively and provide an added safety feature. You will receive these gel pads with your original purchase, and they will last approximately 30 sessions. Remember, however, that the newer your gel pads are, the more effective your "workouts" will be.

In order to help you achieve the results you want, the manufacturer includes a manual, which gives you instructions on how to safely use The Flex Belt and a schdule to follow. There are several different intensity levels and training programs that you can choose from. In order to achieve the best results, you will want to vary your intensity levels and incorporate the different programs.

What We Liked

Ab toning belts have been developed in the past, but with little success, and rarely do they have any science backing up their claims. The Flex Belt, however, does produce results after prolonged use, according to a study conducted by Dr. John Porcari at the University of Wisconsin. In his six-week study, Dr. Porcari had several individuals test out The Flex Belt, all of whom found that their abdominal muscles felt firmer and more toned.

There are a number of celebrities and athletes who endorse the product, including Denise Richards, Lisa Rinna, Jerry Rice and swimmer Janet Evans, so that adds a bit of legitimacy to it. (Although I'm sure they are all highly paid and get their six-pack abs the old fashioned way)

They do have FDA clearance, which also adds to its legitimacy, although the FDA endorses and clears many not-so safe/effective products. But at least the company is making the effort.

There is a 60 day money back guarantee which should give you ample time to try the Flex Belt and see if it works for you. They also offer free shipping which helps with the costs...more about the costs below in our What Could Be Improved section.

What Could Be Improved

You may be wondering if there is anything you're not going to like about it. The only thing we've come across thus far is that it's a bit expensive. One belt is $199.99. It comes with the gel pads but they only last for 30 sessions so you'll need to order additional sets at $14.99 per. So that's almost $15 per month for as long as you use the system. They also have a Flex Mini and a Flex Arms that you can add to your order for butt, thighs, bis and tris for a few hundred more.

Although the costs can add up, if it does work for you and you truly don't need to do any situps to achieve rock hard abs then it's probably worth it and the price is really not a negative.

Conclusion

Weighing the pros and cons of The Flex Belt we'd say it's worth a shot. It may be a great way to get the abdominal muscle definition you crave, without putting in too much effort. Traditional workouts can put stress and strain on your back and neck, leaving you to give up. However, with The Flex Belt, you won't have to do that, so you're more likely to continue using the product.

Although the cost seems kind of high, you do have six weeks to try it out, and due to the reviews of others, you may find that this is exactly what you're looking for. Using The Flex Belt may give you everything you need, but you'll have to try it for yourself, as individual results may vary.

If you'd like to give it a try, you're probably best off buying it from the official Flex Belt manufacturer's site to take advantage of the free shipping and other special offers.
